Sydney Opera House in Green on St Patrick’s Day

The Sydney Opera House was cloaked in green to mark 200 years of St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Australia. The iconic landmark put on a green evening dress tonight from 7.30 pm reminiscent of the Vivid Sydney light display.

Revellers in their green attire flocked to Irish pubs to celebrate over a few pints. With almost two million Australians with Irish heritage, it was no surprise to see long queues at the pubs down at the Sydney Rocks.  With Guinness as the ale of choice on this Wednesday March 17,  everyone can be Irish even just for one day.

Green and Guinness… to be sure to be sure.

    • Shannon: Isn’t it ever! We travel around the world taking in the best sights then we get awestruck at home with moments like these!
Happy St Paddy’s Day to you! Hope you’re celebrating in style 🙂

  • The green has come up well on the sails. The Vivid Sydney  event last June set a high benchmark for “painting” the Opera House.

    • Mark: Hi and welcome 🙂
At first sight, I thought the green was a little dark but when my eyes adjusted, I liked the type of glow it emitted. Vivid Sydney was splendid. I saw another projection on the Opera House sails last night (19/3) but nobody knew what it was for!
