Visit the area known as The Rocks in Sydney and you’ll find yourself giving in to temptation. Baroque Bistro Patisserie beckons you to sit alfresco and catch glimpses of the harbour or step inside the industrial décor and indulge your sweet tooth.
We’re not strangers to this Sydney gem. We have dined at Baroque on previous occasion and have taken home a box of macarons that we put to an extensive taste review. But today, we’re after a pause café.
And it is a Café Gourmand. A choice of coffee is served with three macarons that change depending on the flavours available on the day.
The latte tastes as good as it looks. The coffee is strong and delivers a much welcomed caffeine hit.
The parfums du jour, starting from the back are a rich chocolate (left), coffee (middle) and coconut (right). Unfortunately, they’re out of my favourite, the salted caramel macaron.
But among the purple colours of blackcurrant (left), chocolate (middle) and violet (right), I make a new friend. The violet macaron has a subtle and sensual flavour that makes me feel good all over.
For just $10, you’ll be tempted to return for a Café Gourmand and work your way through the available macarons.

The coloring of the macaron’s is just gorgeous. My daughter would go nuts over the purple ones!
I’m sure she’d love the taste as well. They can be addictive in a good way! 🙂
Wow, what a gorgeous place! I could definitely do with some macarons and a latte 🙂
Service is very welcoming too. You’d enjoy it 🙂
Damn! Now I feel as if my day will be an utter catastrophe unless I can obtain these delights! *cries*
Come to Sydney and I’ll take you there for a coffee! 🙂
The coffees look so good. I’d love to try the violet, and the coconut too, always coconut. 🙂
The coconut was very good but the violet… the best! 🙂
