Night Noodle Markets – Crave Sydney in the Wet
For two weeks in October, the Night Noodles Markets pop up in Sydney’s Hyde Park serving Asian-themed hawker style food. This popular event is part of the Crave Sydney Food Festival and runs on weeknights giving people a chance to stop by after work for tasty food and a drink with friends. Although the food is primarily Asian, there were a few stalls this year that offered Turkish food, keeping in line with the festival’s Middle Eastern theme this year.
The stalls were set up, entertainment was in progress and people started to fill the outdoor tables and chairs under illuminated trees. But Sydney had other plans. After grey skies flirted with the possibility of showers, the first rain drops fell and soon turned into a downpour. But that didn’t curb Sydneysiders’ enthusiasm. We all simply huddled under our umbrellas and tucked into our steamed pork buns, dim sums, and other Asian fare while protecting our beers from getting wet.
