All over France today, people are celebrating the arrival of the Beaujolais Nouveau.
Each year, on the third Thursday in November, Beaujolais wine producers release a young wine made from Gamay grapes that has only been fermented for a few weeks before it is bottled and sold.
In Sydney, celebrations begin ahead of France with signs proclaiming Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!

Last year, we celebrated at Moncur Terrace with a food and wine match prepared for the occasion. Tonight, we’re clinking glasses at home and toasting a musical Santé! before adding another memento to the collection of Beaujolais Nouveau bottles on the kitchen shelf.

How will you be celebrating the arrival of the Beaujolais Nouveau?
It’s so fun! I found a bunch of signs up on my way home this afternoon. Think we’re going to try a tasting at a local cavist who’s offering a buffet as well. Bought my first bottle last night & it’s already gone… Sign of things to come 🙂
ps. nice collection you’ve got there! Jealous.
I’m envious of your tasting at the caviste. I hope one day to be in France during the festivities! Missed it in Paris on one occasion by just a few days…

I’m tasting vicariously through you today. As Tuula said, a very nice collection of bottles you have there!
In that case, Santé to you! That’s only about a 1/3 of the collection. I don’t know what we’ll do when we run out of shelf space! 🙂
You know, I’ve never had such a young wine before. I’m sure it’s refreshing and nice. 🙂
You’ll find it easy to drink. It’s a very light wine, and served slightly chilled, it goes well with a variety of foods. I thought this year’s vintage was a little better than previous years!
cute – love the bottle collection. I haven’t tried this year’s but will try and get a bottle or two in for our big Thanksgiving dinner!
Thanksgiving and Beaujolais Nouveau… now that’s an unusual combination! 🙂 I should have taken a better photo of the bottle collection. Next year, perhaps…
