The Spot Food and Film Festival 2011 at Randwick

On Sunday 13 March 2011, people packed the area in Randwick known as The Spot for the fourth Spot Food and Film Festival. Every man, woman, child and dog vied for space in front of the temporary stage where capoeira dancers and Brazilian rhythms worked the crowd into a frenzy followed by the sounds of the Martini Club band.

There were food and market stalls representing local businesses; some boasting the record for the largest hamburger others occupying a vantage spot with massive paella pans and sangria.

Much like last year’s festival with Claudia Karvan and Steve Bisley, actors Sigrid Thornton, Jack Thompson and Gary Sweet were inducted into the Australian Film Walk of Fame with their plaque installed on the footpath outside the Randwick Ritz Cinema.

The Spot Food and Film Festival was our fourth food-related event on the same weekend. After attending the Global Table at Bondi Junction, Taste of Sydney in Centennial Park and Bairro Português in Petersham, we were a little too tired to enjoy the buzzy atmosphere at the Spot but didn’t leave without snapping a few mementos of the lively event.

  2. Sounds like a lot of fun! We end up going to a lot of film festivals because of Bob being in the business and I love every one of them. Always eat good food and discover films (usually short films) I would have never seen otherwise.

  3. That is one MASSIVE burger! LOL
