Sydney Cellar Door returned to Hyde Park in Sydney’s CBD for a weekend of outdoor wine tasting. Over 90 winemakers representing 14 wine regions in NSW set up tasting stations in the leafy park.

The NSW wine regions included the Canberra District renowned for its Shiraz, Orange for its Sauvignon Blanc and Mudgee for its Cabernet Sauvignon.

Some of the wineries that participated in the Sydney Boutique Wine Fair at the Oak Barrel in 2011 were present to showcase their range. Patina, Louee, Simon Gilbert and Tertini Wines were among the popular stands.

Some of the notables drops include the Margan Semillon and Margan 2010 Barbera , Cassegrain 2009 Sangiovese, Audrey Wilkinson 2009 Oaked Chardonnay, Audrey Wilkinson 2010 Tempranillo, Capital Wines Riesling and the Two Italian Boys with their Semillon Viognier and the superb Two Italian Boys 2010 Sangiovese.

Live music by bands such as Aston and 20 food stalls by some of Sydney’s popular restaurants such as Porteño and Bodegas, Almond Bar, Tony Bilson at Home by Moobi Valley kept the crowds entertained and satiated while sipping wines from the various NSW regions.

Entry to the event is free with wine tasting packages starting at $25 with 1 glass and 5 tasting tokens which can be redeemed for 2 x 30 mls or 1 x 60mls.
The 2-day event took place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February 2012 and kicks off the NSW Wine Festival which runs through to the end of March.
