Sydney played host to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA), a yearly event which ran from 30 April to 4 May 2012. And on a splendid autumn day, food and fashion came together with a leisurely lunch at Cruise Bar and Restaurant followed by the Innovators Show.
Cruise Bar & Restaurant
Overlooking the Sydney Opera House and the Tent, where the fashion shows were held, Cruise Bar and Restaurant opened its doors during the day to provide tasty sustenance to the ebb and flow of fashionistas, media and models.
Lunch was an unhurried affair among an intimate group of food and lifestyle media, starting with a glass of Jansz sparkling and moving to a tantalising array of generous share plates.

The Innovators Fashion Show
Running fashionably late, the fashion show drew a long queue outside the Tent. Six TAFE graduate student designers made up the Innovators Show, a group of up and coming designers from Fashion Design Studio, whose notable alumni include Alex Perry, Zimmerman, Lisa Ho and Akira Isogawa.

First designer on show was Kaylene Milner, who was presented with a $15,000 scholarship and it was announced that she was chosen for an internship with Diane von Furstenberg. Her collection featured graphic prints, knitwear and leather.
