The Rocks Aroma Festival 2012

The Rocks Aroma Festival returned to Sydney for the 15th year in a row, drawing in an eager crowd in spite of cold temperatures.

The four themed global regions were again represented, The Orient, The Continent, The Latin Quarter and The Oasis, each with an entertainment program and in its own stalls of food, coffee, teas and sweets.

The Oasis region was again the most interesting, with belly dancers, coffee cup readings and the return of camel rides along Sydney Harbour – a rare sight that is well worth seeing. Big crowds and long queues called for patience at the stalls, with the Spiral Spuds stand drawing a long snaking queue at one point.

With more stalls selling food and sweets than coffee, the emphasis was rather diluted. An additional smaller section devoted to coffee where one can sample different blends from around the world would give the Aroma Festival its true meaning.

The Rocks Aroma Festival was held on Sunday 29 July 2012 between 10am and 5pm. Entrance is free. Coffee costs $2 per cup.
