Bondi Hardware Turns One

Local favourite, Bondi Hardware Bar and Restaurant recently turned one year old and celebrated with an evening of cocktails, canapés and cool DJ beats.

The venue is named after the hardware store which occupied it for 30 years and owners Hamish Watts and Ben Carroll have paid homage to its history by transforming the space with a decor of exposed brickwork, beams, high gabled ceilings and recycled timber.

Head chef Logan Carroll’s menu takes its inspiration from a ‘global share-style food’ philosophy that reflects the venue’s casual dining experience. Popular dishes include the beef, pork or chicken sliders, wood-fired pizzas and salt and pepper squid with chilli, fresh coriander and lime. But it’s not all dude food, the “share plates” menu is a delight with dishes such as the kingfish ceviche and chermoula lamb rump chops. Complementing the menu, the bar offers an extensive selection of beers, ciders, spirits and cocktails.

The duo behind Bondi Hardware have recently opened a similar concept at The Botanist in Kirribilli, with dishes such as Tataki tuna with mixed radish salad, toasted Tunisian spiced couscous with marinated lamb backstrap and Mahi Mahi ceviche with avocado, coconut, radish and tomato. The  cocktails are also designed to reflect the Botanist themes with elegant flower and spiced infusions.

The Bondi Hardware birthday bash was held on Wednesday March 12, 2013.
