The Soda Factory, Surry Hills

Editor’s note: Our contributor, Ed Sullivan attends the first birthday celebration of The Soda Factory in Surry Hills.

Entered through a retro coke machine, one of Sydney’s favourite hidden bars in Surry Hills, The Soda Factory turned one with a whole weekend of celebration.

Champagne awaited as guests arrived into the darkened room, with popular black and white film and music clips being played above the stage.  Candles, plush lounges and even a classic Vespa scooter, added to the atmosphere.

In celebration of their hugely successful gourmet hotdog, a full dinner menu is now available, written up next to a lit-up vintage American diner sign hanging by the bar. Guests were offered a taste of the new menu, which included classics like the Cheese Burger, Spring Rolls, Mac and Cheese Spring Rolls, Texas BBQ Pork Ribs, Veggie Sliders and of course their famous hotdog.

Killer cocktails, served in Jam Jars, and the adulterated ice cream floats were crowd favourites.

DJ Grandmaster Flash, who jetted in to Sydney from New York led a toast for the night as he started busting out old school classics.
