Fashion High Tea: The Gallery Tea Lounge, Sheraton on the Park

Move over cucumber sandwiches and tartlets. Sheraton on the Park has launched Fashion High Tea where you can indulge your eye as well as your sweet tooth.

Held at the The Gallery Tea Lounge adjacent to the hotel lobby, the space offers a modern and relaxed setting with leafy views over Hyde Park – that is if you can prise your eyes away from the three tier stand with a range of sweets that are almost too cute to eat.

Fashion High Tea
Bottom Tier

Start with a glass of Domaine Chandon sparkling wine as you study the three-tier stand. The bottom tier is a mix of sweet and savoury with home-made scones with strawberry jam and double cream, and tasty bites of warm asparagus, onion and cheese quiches in a light and crumbly pastry.

Middle Tier

The middle tier is all savoury with a selection of sandwiches on different styles of bread. Sink your teeth into generous bites of the buttery mini croissants filled with smoked ham and cheese, topped with alfalfa sprouts. Egg Mayonnaise and Chives on white bread, chicken sweetcorn and Dijon mayonnaise on multigrain bread, and there’s the favourite, smoked salmon and cucumber on rye bread.

Top Tier

But enough with the teasing. This is a Fashion High Tea with all the sweets made in-house and the top tier is screaming for a taste. Nibble on the truffle chocolate high heels, melting in the mouth with a creamy mouthfeel. The cute handbags are made of white chocolate. Lift one daintily in your fingers and you’ll reveal a strawberry sponge. The lemon rind mini cupcakes are sweet and buttery with an iced yellow rose on top. But it is the bonnet berry cake that steals the fashion show. Nibble around the rim of the hat and you’ll get a surprise with a soft and delicious marzipan centre.

There’s a choice of coffee, herbal and black teas as well as Lindt hot chocolate to complement the experience.

Fashion High Tea is available seven days a week and costs $89 for two, including tea or coffee with the option of including two glasses of Domaine Chandon for $109. A ‘deluxe’ version is on offer at the exclusive Sheraton Club on level 21 each Saturday and Sunday afternoon upon request.

With Sheraton on the Park located centrally near the major shopping malls and retailers, the Fashion High Tea feels right at home and is the ideal spot to drop in for a sweet and memorable indulgence.
