Ryo’s Noodles, Bondi Junction

Ryo’s Noodles have brought their renowned ramen to the Eastern Suburbs, opening in Bondi Junction last month. If you made it to the Crows Nest eatery, seen the queues and taken your seat as you await what is arguably the best ramen in town, you know what to expect.

The orange menu sits on the tables, inside or at one of the outside tables, awaiting diners to make their choice. The best sellers and specials are on the wall.

Like the Ramen in miso flavoured soup with egg, roast pork, shallots and bamboo shoots ($14), all the bowls come with a full flavoured broth of either pork or chicken served with plenty of noodles. Depending on which ramen, bamboo shoots or shallots, an egg are added and topped with sesame seeds.

This is the best seller from over in Crows Nest and it is easy to see why. Ramen in soy sauce flavoured soup with roast pork, nori, egg and shallots ($13.50) sits in a full flavoured broth with tender pork and the noodles are soft and hold together.

Ramen in Tokyo style soy sauce soup with roast pork, egg, bamboo shoots and nori ($13.50) is a lighter broth but still with plenty of flavour and heat

There are a few non ramen dishes and the Japanese style beef curry rice with chicken cutlet ($16) is one. A crisp chicken cutlet is served with the beef curry drizzled atop with more at the side. This is a tasty and generous dish if you not in a noodle mood.

Ryo’s Noodles serves up great ramen that starts with its full flavoured broth, flavoursome ingredients, generous serves, quick service and is very affordable. The question is, when will the queues start?
