Andrew Bennett Wins Bacardi Legacy Australian Final 2016

The Australian finals of the Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition for 2016 were held last night with Andrew Bennett of The Classroom in Perth taking out the title.

The event was held at Cell Block Theatre in Sydney’s Darlinghurst where the “Three Most Promising” competed during the intimate Gran Familia event after delivering their marketing presentations to the Bacardi brand team.

First up was Peter Hollands (The Gresham, Qld) with The Treaty Of Paris, inspired by the Franco-Cuban relations during an age of decadence.

Next was Igor Pachi from Assembly Bar in Sydney with El Pasaporte, his travellers’ cocktail and the new taste of freedom before Andrew Bennett from The Classroom, WA delivered his cocktail, The Seventh Art, inspired by Cuba’s rich cinematic history.

Judging the competition were Alissa Gabriel (2015 Bacardi Legacy Winner) and Fred Siggins (2014 Inaugural Winner), along with the Bacardi Global Brand Ambassador, Dickie Cullimore.

The winner, Andrew Bennett will be travelling to San Francisco to compete against 46 nations at the Bacardi Legacy Global Competition in April 2016. In the meantime, he will spend the next months on promotional work before the global finals.

50ml Bacardi Carta Blanca
10ml Yellow Chartreuse
20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
15ml Sugar Syrup
1 handful of Popcorn
1 pinch of Salt


Muddle popcorn in Boston shaker and combine all liquids with ice before shaking hard for 10 seconds. Double-strain into a chilled glass and garnish with a small ramekin of popcorn beside.
