The Morrison Crab Carnival

The Morrison’s Annual Crab Carnival is back for 2016, running from 25th March to 22nd April with a host of crabalicious activities. Here are some of the highlights that you can expect during the month.

Crabby Mary Cocktail

What better way to set the mood and whet the appetite than with a Crabby Mary Cocktail ($16) with Ketel One Vodka, Alaskan Crab Claw and a choice of Spicy Sauce that includes Hot Sauce, Spicy BBQ and Singapore Chilli for that extra kick.

Crab and Lettuce Tacos

The Crab and Lettuce Tacos ($18) (3 per serve) are a good way to start with the great flavour of snow crab, Chardonnay Vinaigrette, Salmon Caviar with fresh chilli served in baby cos lettuce. Every day there is a Crab Taco Happy Hour between 6pm and 7 pm where these delicious tacos are $5 each.

Snow Crab Roll

The Snow Crab Roll ($19) with Crème fraîche, Lemon and Coriander (2 per serve) is filled with creamy crab filling that works well with the soft, sweet buns.

Bang Bang Crab Salad (served canapé style at Launch)

The Bang Bang Crab Salad ($22) with Vermicelli, Cucumber, Chilli, Mint, Coriander and Bang Bang Sauce delivers a lot of flavour with a little heat that sneaks up on you.

Crab Hush Puppies

These Crab Hush Puppies ($17) with Jalapeño Tartare are lightly fried and pair well with the jalapeño tartare.

Crab Photo Op

Take a photo of Sean’s Crab Steam Pot because it will not look like this when you’ve finished. Steamed in a bag and served directly onto the table in front of you, put on a bib and use the hammer and tools to break into those crabs and make sure that you can extract all that wonderful crab meat. Watch those shells fly!

Sean’s Crab Steam Pot

Sean’s Crab Steam Pot ($49 for two people) is a meal with King Crab, Potatoes, Corn, Chorizo and Spicy Sauce and will be served every Thursday during Crab Carnival. Loads of crab, what more can you ask.

Hermit Crab Racing

Hermit Crab Racing will take place every second Thursday, being the 7th and 21st April at  7pm. These thoroughbred hermit crabs will be numbered and jockey-less, with The Morrison holding a sweep to tempt.

This year, Executive Chef Sean Connolly has put together a Limited Edition Menu with plenty of favourites and some new dishes like Salt and Pepper Crab Legs and those Crab Hush Puppies. So for lovers of crustaceans, cooked that is, head to the Crab Carnival at The Morrison and enjoy.
