Mr G’s Bar and Grill has opened within the Intercontinental Double Bay in March bringing an authentic American grill with a focus on quality sourced meat, seafood and fresh produce.
The food menu by chef Dave Little, who was George Lucas’s private chef is cooked on a Mibrasa grill and a wood-fired, charcoal-oven to impart a unique smoky flavour and aroma.
Dishes include Huon Salmon Gravlax, horseradish cream, dill & matzo crackers; Glacier 51 Patagonian Toothfish with heirloom radish & black garlic; Beef Carpaccio with spring pickled vegetables, truffle pecorino and rosemary salt and Alaskan King Crab Sliders.
There’s a variety of steaks priced from $35 to $110 with potato gratin and choice of sauces and butters.
The bar at Mr G’s has an American focus with over 100 whiskies and American craft beers on tap and cocktails by venue manager, Doug Laming (ex Rabbit Hole Bar) using ingredients such as pumpkin curd, oolong tea and milk of the poppy.
A separate menu for Picklebacks includes a shot of whisky with a matching pickle and brine shot chased by a beer. The wine list has a champagne focus and wines starting from $45 to $2000 bottle of champagne.
Mr G’s Bar and Grill is named after the father of owners Patrick and Angela Gallagher of Gallagher Hotels, in reference to the nickname of Patrick’s father, Mr. G.
Mr G’s Bar and Grill is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am till late.
