Gourmantic Celebrates 8th Birthday with the Gourmantic Origins Dinner & Gourmantic Birthday Gin 2017

Last night we celebrated Gourmantic’s 8th Birthday, one day ahead of the actual anniversary today, by hosting the Gourmantic Origins Dinner, a private dinner party at our home, paying homage to our origins.

Following from the 7th birthday celebration (7 night, 7 bars, 7 cocktails), the 8th birthday theme was based around the dinner parties Kevin and I used to host at home where conversations with friends centred on sharing travel, food and drink discoveries from around the world. These dinners were so popular with our guests that we wanted to share those stories beyond 8 people and Gourmantic became an extension of that dining table.

On Sunday night, we recreated one of those dinner parties by inviting 6 very special guests to join us for dinner at our home. The six guests are key people who have helped shape Gourmantic from the early years who come from various aspects of the hospitality industry. And just like old times, I went into the kitchen while Kevin took care of the drinks, the music and hosting.

We promised our guests that there will be a surprise on the night. During Cocktail Hour, we revealed the Gourmantic Birthday Gin 2017, distilled on World Cocktail Day at Ironbark Distillery by award-winning Distiller Reg Papps . Crafted with a combination of 8 traditional and Australian native botanicals, the Gourmantic Birthday Gin 2017 was served in the only cocktail on the night, the G8 Gibson, a take on the Gibson Martini, highlighting the savoury and briny notes of the gin. You can read more about the gin here.

We will sharing the Gourmantic Origins Dinner in another article, including the drinks served during Cocktail Hour, all the 8 courses and paired beverages, the stories behind them, as well as the social media coverage of the event starting from tomorrow once all the photos have been made available. You can follow us on instagram @gourmantic and look out for the hashtags #gourmanticoriginsdinner #gourmantic8birthday #gourmanticbirthdaygin.

In the meantime, we’d like to thank each and every one of our guests, and we will do so in alphabetical order: Ben Davidson, John Noble,  Manuel Terron, Max Greco, Stuart Reeves and Sven Almenning for joining us in our home on this momentous occasion.

Our heartfelt gratitude also goes to the generosity of our sponsors without whom our vision of the dinner would not have taken place. Thank you (again in alphabetical order) Artisan Malbec, Bacardi Martini, CAPI, Ironbark Distillery, island2island, Lark Distillery, Luxe Caviar, Manly Spirits, Moya’s Juniper Lounge, Pernod Ricard, Starward Distillery, Sydney Brewery and Vanguard Luxury Brands for making it an unforgettable night.

Last but not least, thank you to all our readers and supporters for being part of the Gourmantic family over the years.
