Whirly Bird Opens in Pyrmont

Whirly Bird, a new venue with a focus on fine poultry and liquor has opened in Pyrmont.

 Whirly Bird Pyrmont

Located along Union Street in Pyrmont, the upbeat eatery and bar is the brainchild of Anthony Prior, formerly of The Keystone Group. The open plan venue is split into multiple areas, with a total seated capacity of 150. The 80-seater dining room includes a 12-person private dining area, as well as a bar, lounge and outdoor areas.

Renowned industry professionals Rollo Anderson (L) and Liam Doherty-Penzer (R), both formerly of The Rook are behind the bar. Together they bring their creativity to the drinks offerings taking inspiration from musical legends and records such as Presley’s King Creole.

The cocktail list is designed with sections that complement the dining experience with an Intro, Bridge, Chorus and Outro. You’ll also find a good selection of craft and classic beer, a solid wine list with all options available by the glass.

The food is shared style dining with a focus on fine poultry, be it small plates, bar snacks or larger offerings. Think signature rotisserie spit roast birds, buttermilk fried chicken paired with one of two sauces; chilli & honey caramel or house made Whirlybird smoky BBQ. Vegetarian and vegan diners need not shy away. Dishes such as ‘salt ‘n’ pepper silken tofu’ with spring onions, ginger and ponzu are set to please.

Whirly Bird is open from Sunday to Wednesday 12pm-12am and Thursday to Saturday from 12pm – 1am.
