Cheese, Wine & Beer Events at Handpicked Wines Cellar Door

Handpicked Wines have announced a series of fun and delicious events at their Cellar Door in Chippendale.

Handpicked Cellar Door Cheese

Vintage Party

When: Now Until Friday 12 April

Cheese you expect. Wine is a given. But did you know that a winemaker’s favourite drink during vintage is actually beer? After 16-hour days picking and processing fruit at this time of year, the whole industry knows that a cold tin of beer is the perfect antidote to a day living and breathing wine.

To celebrate the vintage season and show solidarity with their production team, Handpicked Wines are inviting guests to enjoy a tinny on them. For every table that spends over $70 at the Cellar Door between now and Friday 12 April, each guest will receive a free roadie of beer to end their night – ‘winemaker’ style. The team will be serving up cans of Badlands Brewbacca, a Kölsch-style craft beer that is the favourite of chief winemaker Peter Dillon and gives an authentic taste of what’s happening in the vines as he picks his way through the Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, Barossa and Tasmania.

Wine & Cheese Workshop with Sam Studd

When: Thursday 4 April

Beer aside, on Thursday 4 April, Handpicked Wines is going back to basics, breaking down the art of wine and cheese pairing. In a 90-minute workshop with Handpicked ambassador and Certified Cheese Professional, Sam Studd, attendees will be guided on a journey through a series of wine varietals and expertly matched cheeses.

Guests can delight their senses with delicious aromas, textures and flavours at this pairing workshop while learning the story behind each wine, including where they’re from, their style, tasting notes and how to pair with an array of cheeses. The $75 workshop will run from 6:00pm – 7:30pm in the Cellar Door’s experience room with an intimate group of 20 people only – bookings essential.

Double the Cheese Raclette

When: Every Tuesday and Thursday from Tuesday 16 April

As the ancient proverb says, double the cheese, double the fun. Raclette Tuesdays are back at the Cellar Door from April, but this year, Handpicked Wines are taking it one step further, with Raclette Tuesdays AND Thursdays.

From 5:30pm – 10:00pm every Tuesday and Thursday for the next few months, they’ll be serving up all your ‘food porn’ needs with melted cheese scraped straight off the wheel and onto a plate of potatoes, hand-sliced cured meat, cornichons and more. The decadent $24 cheesy feast also comes in a vegetarian option for $20 and has been designed to pair perfectly with the ‘Swipe Right’ Wine Flight, a collection of Mornington Chardonnay, Heathcote and Barossa Shiraz and Margaret River Cabernet Merlot.
