Contact Bar & Kitchen, a new café, bar and restaurant has opened in Woolloomooloo.
Located in Crown St, within walking distance of Stanley St, the venue features a central bar, striking stone walls, leather banquettes, indoor and outdoor seating.
The concept at Contact Bar & Kitchen is to create a space for people to connect and share ideas and experiences,hence the name, Contact. The enviable assortment of vintage telephone throughout tips its hat to Alexander Graham-Bell for his invention of the first practical telephone in 1876.
Contact Bar & Kitchen’s offering extends from breakfast and lunch to dinner. You’ll find items such as Lime and Chilli Avocado Mash, Activated Lentils with Poached Egg and Boston Style Baked Beans and smoothies on daily rotation.
Cocktails include the Mezman Highball with mezcal, lime, agave syrup, mandarin soda and rosemary, Kentucky Mafia
with Coffee Bourbon, Amaro Averna, maple syrup and smoke as well as classics such as the Clover Club, Boulevardier and Sherry Cobbler.
The food menu leans towards Italy with a range of dishes designed to be shared. Small dishes include Oysters with Mignonette and Samphire, Tuna Tartare with Chilli and Avocado Mousse, and Salumi which includes Soppressa Milano with Red wine Glazed Pearl Onions, Nduja with Nashi Pear, and Bresaola with Quince Chutney.
Larger dishes to share tempt with Duck Breast with Duck Leg Hash, Spinach, Beetroot Purée Black and Currant Jus ($22), Homemade Salmon and Razor Clam Ravioli with Samphire and Cherry Tomato ($27) and Nettle Pesto Risotto ($20). Dessert includes Brandy Crème Brûlée ($17) and Truffled White Chocolate with salted Butter Popcorn ($18).
Contact Bar & Kitchen plans to regularly host culinary and cocktail classes as well as tastings and master classes covering everything from cheese to whisky.
