Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Independence Reserve Rum

Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum has released the rare, limited edition, Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Independence Reserve Rum in celebration of the country’s 50th anniversary of independence.

Fifty years ago, when Jamaica was granted independence from the British, Appleton Estate put aside hand-selected barrels of rum which were stored in a special area of the estate under the care of two Master Blenders, Owen Tulloch then Joy Spence.

The special edition rum is now released with only 800 bottles available for sale globally and only 17 bottles available in Australia.

Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Independence Reserve Rum (45% ABV) has a rich, dark mahogany hue, is viscous in the glass and has a bouquet that is strong on oak, vanilla, some cinnamon and orange peel. On the palate, it is luxuriant, rich and smooth, heavily oaked with a long, warm and dry finish.

The Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Rum – Jamaica Independence Reserve comes in a hand-crafted, crystal decanter. The label is engraved into the crystal and filled with gold, and the side decoration, which takes its cue from Jamaica’s National Symbol, is etched into the crystal.  The decanter is completed with a gold finished brass and cork stopper and presented in a black lacquered gift box with gold finished brass hinges.

The Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Rum – Jamaica Independence Reserve retails at at a RRP of $5,500 per 750ml bottle.

The tasting of the oldest rum retail in the world was held at Riley St Garage in Wolloomooloo with guests enjoying a selection of Appleton Estate Rum cocktails – the Dark and Stormier, Pina Colada and Treacle – as well as neat sips including the 21 year old expression throughout dinner.
