With so many venues opening of late, it can be difficult to keep up so we’re bringing you a round-up of Sydney’s best new restaurants and bars.

1. Stockroom at InterContinental Double Bay

Stockroom at InterContinental Double Bay provides an elegant dining room and also a casual dining space with food prepared by Executive Chef Julien Pouteau who brings his experience from around the globe to this new dining experience in Double Bay.

2. The Lemon Tree Sydney

This bright and cheerful restaurant and bar in the heart of the CBD offers a range of light Italian dishes. A good list of cocktails, wine or champagne makes for a relaxed experience at The Lemon Tree.

3. ACME Rushcutters Bay

With a range of bar snacks and unusual pasta dishes like squid ink strozzapreti, octopus, chrysanthemum ACME restaurant in Rushcutters Bay is a fun addition to the area. The wine list is impressive featuring local and European wines.

4. Wilhelmina’s Balmain

Sourcing from local suppliers, Wilhelmina’s Liquid and Larder is a modern Australian eatery creates its menu 3of share plates using the freshest ingredients accompanied by a selection of boutique wines, craft beers and cocktails.

5. Pizzaperta Pyrmont

Stefano Manfredi’s Pizzaperta pizzeria and bar will be using artisanal unrefined Petra flour from Italy as traditional pizzas are made for the diner. Italian cocktails and an interesting wine list to pair.

6. Burger Project World Square

Neil Perry’s Burger Project has created a burger experience with a range of burgers at $10, Magic Mushroom burger at $12.50, hot dogs, crispy hot wings, shakes and sodas. ‘In place’ to go, but be warned as there is a queue.

7. Vine Double Bay

With a list of over 50 boutique wines that include both local and overseas as well as organic and biodynamic styles, Vine at Double Bay brings a modern menu from bar snacks to larger share plates. Cocktails and beer also available.

8. Downstairs Darlinghurst

Downstairs Restaurant is a gastro pub which features modern British food such as treacle cured salmon and twice cooked pork belly and is brought to you by the owners of The Hazy Rose, which is directly above. A well-thought wine list available to match.

9. Ajo The Welcome Hotel Rozelle

Head Chef Daniel Mulligan (ex Pilu at Freshwater) serves up a Sardinian and Italian inspired menu at Ajo at the Welcome Hotel. A great range of craft beers, over 60 on tap or in the bottle and a wine list including some boutique NSW wines are available.

10. Daniel San Manly

Japanese street food comes with a view at Manly’s Daniel San. Have a snack be it sushi, sashimi or the robata skewers or try the banquet with friends. Cocktails with a twist, champagne and an Australian wine list with a few from NZ are available.

11. Chaco Bar Darlinghurst

Yakitori is the feature at Chaco Bar in Darlinghurst. A selection of grilled meats on skewers at $4 each, allow you to make a kaleidoscope for year meal. Sashimi selected daily makes for a variety upon each visit. Sit at the communal table and let the feast begin.

12. Bondy’s Sydney

It’s Bond. Alan Bond. Bondy’s is a bar that takes you back to the heyday of the 1980’s. Bartenders dressed as stockbrokers, Ken Done colour on the walls, Fosters on tap and if it’s been a great trading day, a $20,000 cocktail. Read our review of Bondy’s.

13. One Penny Red Summer Hill

In the old Post Office, One Penny Red offers flavoursome menus, a lighter menu upstairs and full dining downstairs, using sustainable and organic produce matched with biodynamic wines.

14. Johnnie Walker Blue Label Room at The Stables

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Room is now open at The Stables. A members’ only bar, the venue is offers city views and a terrace bar from which to indulge in a dram or two.

15. LuMi Pyrmont

Former head chef at Ormeggio, Federico Zanellato at LuMi  has put together an unusual seven course degustation with the likes of  Spelt Ravioli and Stinging Nettle Chittara accompanied with a view at Pyrmont Wharf. A lunch and bar menu are also available.

16. Bowery Lane Sydney

Taking its name from a street in New York in the 1800’s, Bowery Lane bar and restaurant is serving its take on New York style food, lobster sliders, and cocktails as well as a range of US craft beers.

17. LP’s Quality Meats Chippendale

At LP’s Quality Meats, Head chef Luke Powell (ex-Tetsuya’s and ex-Mary’s) serves a range of house made cured and cold meats and the smoked meats, Lamb belly stuffed with merguez sausage for one, are not to be missed. Good selections of local and overseas wines are also at hand.

18. Pei Modern Sydney

Mark best brings his acclaimed Melbourne bistro to Sydney. Pei Modern at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel may flirt with fine dining but this is hotel dining at its best.

19. The Smoking Panda Sydney

Let your hair down and step into retro kitsch at The Smoking Panda perched above the Coronation Hotel in Sydney. This neon-lit fusion of Asian and American flavours is themed in cocktails and tasty bites.

20. The Bear Haymarket

A Scandinavian-themed bar in Chinatown? You’ll find The Bear down a laneway at the Haymarket with a Christmas tree guarding at the door. Snack on Bjorn’s Balls or share The Bear Plate while you sip on classic and signature cocktails.
